01At a glance
This is Sense/Net’s first transparency report. It covers the fiscal year that ended on June 30, 2025, and sets out what we recorded, who appears in it, how it was played and what went wrong.
We record people in a medium that is very good at making things feel true. That puts us under an obligation to be exact about what is in our recordings and who agreed to it. Where a figure has changed since last year we say by how much; where we have changed how we count, we say that too.

The year in figures
- Performers recorded: 418.
- Withdrawals of consent before release: 11, affecting 8 titles.
- Members of the public in a released title without a release: 0.
- Plays of an adaptive edition: 63.8% of all Fullfield plays.
- Playback comfort reports: 2,904, or 24.3 per million plays.
- Requests for viewer data from governments and courts: 18.
02Consent and performers
Every Fullfield recording is made under the Sense/Net Consent Standard. A performer agrees to each track separately in a recorded consent session, reviews the final cut before release, and may withdraw at any point before release and, since July 2022, from public access after it.
| Measure | 2025 |
|---|---|
| Performers recorded | 418 |
| Capture sessions | 1,204 |
| Performers who agreed to the breath and heart-rate tracks | 262 (62.7%) |
| Sessions attended by a performer’s representative | 57.9% |
| Withdrawals before release | 11 |
| Withdrawals from public access after release | 6 |
| Median days to complete a withdrawal after release | 14 |
| Consent disputes referred to arbitration | 1 |
A performer recorded in more than one title is counted once. Every withdrawal was honored; none was contested by the company.
Consent sessions are recorded on video and kept for seven years after the title is withdrawn or the performer dies, whichever is later.
03Who appears in our titles
Since September 2023 every bystander in a new Fullfield title has been either a released extra, who signed a release and was paid, or a person created by Fullfield Ambient, who does not exist. Before release, every generated face is checked against our register of released participants, so that nobody who has appeared in one Sense/Net recording turns up uninvited in another.
| Who | Count |
|---|---|
| Titles released | 197 |
| Released extras appearing | 6,114 |
| Generated people rendered in original cuts | 1,388,540 |
| Members of the public appearing without a release | 0 |
| Entries in the register of released participants at year end | 28,911 |
Generated people in adaptive editions are rendered afresh for each play and are not counted; the figure above counts the generated people in each title’s original cut. A released extra who appears in several titles is counted once for each.
04Adaptive editions and the original cut
Most Fullfield titles have two editions. The original cut is the single edition every viewer of the title sees. In an adaptive edition, Fullfield Ambient generates the passers-by, traffic and weather around the performer afresh for each play, so that no two viewers see quite the same street. The performer’s own recording is never changed.
Titles with no adaptive edition are mostly Fullfield Live and Fullfield Archive releases, which are recorded in places we cannot regenerate.
05Playback safety
Fullfield moves your point of view without moving your body, and some viewers feel it. Viewers can report discomfort from the Sense/Net Player, and every report is read by a person. Titles that draw reports above the level expected for their motion rating are re-rated.
We received 2,904 comfort reports, 24.3 per million plays.
12 titles were moved up a motion rating during the year. No report described an injury that needed medical treatment.
06Requests from governments and courts
We received 18 requests for information about viewers and 7 requests to remove a title, 1 of them court orders. We ask for every request in writing, narrow it where we can, and tell the viewer concerned unless the law forbids it.
07Automated tools
We use automated tools in production: Fullfield Ambient generates the world around a performer; an editing assistant proposes cuts across the six tracks; and consent sessions are transcribed automatically and checked by a person. Each is operated by an editor or producer, who decides what goes into a title.
None of these tools makes a decision about a person, and none is licensed by the Turing Registry. Our only filings with the Registry concerned the construct held by the Library, which was retired at its own request in January 2004. Its record, and how it was retired, remains public. We keep our position on filing under review.
08Licensed reference material
Fullfield Ambient is trained on footage recorded by Sense/Net crews and on ambient first-person reference footage licensed from a Tokyo optics partner under the partner’s consent framework. Reference material is used only to train and calibrate Ambient. It never appears in a title, nobody in it appears in one, and it is held apart from the catalogue under §1.4 of the Consent Standard.
| Measure | Figure |
|---|---|
| Licensors of reference material | 1 |
| Reference frames received | 9,871,204 |
| Share supplied under the licensor’s consent framework | 100% |
| Reference frames appearing in any title | 0 |
Reference material was first received in April 2025; the figure covers three months.
09The Library
The Sense/Net Library deposited 166 copies of retired products and out-of-commerce titles with Lazarus during the year. 2 performers asked for a deposited title to be restricted, and each deposit was restricted at our request.
